Hotel
1½ Days
There
are three "tree hotels" in the vicinity of Nyeri about 160kms north
of Nairobi. Treetops the Ark are in the forests of the Aberdare mountains
and Mountain Lodge is on the slopes of Mt. Kenya.
Day 1:
Nairobi - Tree Hotel
The drive passes the small industrial town of Thika surrounded by
extensive pineapple plantations. After crossing the Tana River, source
of much of Kenya's hydro power, the landscape changes and becomes
more lush as you climb into the rich farmlands of the Kikuyu people.
Lunch is taken at the Outspan Hotel in Nyeri, in the case of visitors
to Treetops and Mountain Lodge and at the Aberdare Country Club in
the case of the Ark. In the afternoon proceed to your Tree hotel where
the night is spent and where a procession of forest animals visits
the floodlit waterholes and saltlicks. Elephant, rhino, buffalo, giant
forest hog and many other species are commonly seen.
Day 2:
Tree Hotel - Nairobi
In the morning descend to your hotel before returning to Nairobi in
time for lunch.

Amboseli
& Tsavo National Parks

Day 1:
Nairobi - Amboseli
The drive across Masai country is enlivened by the sight of these
proud warriors and by wildlife scattered across the plains, often
close proximity to domestic livestock. Amboseli National park is reached
in time for lunch and rest before an afternoon game drive enables
you to explore this wonderland set so picturesquely at the foot of
Africa's highest mountain, Kilimanjaro. Dinner and overnight in a
lodge in or near the park.
Day 2:
Amboseli - Tsavo
Before breakfast a final game drive can be taken in Amboseli when
Mt. Kilimanjaro ususally appears from its mantle of clouds. After
breakfast, drive to Tsavo National Park crossing a dramatic lava flow
at the park boundary. Lunch is followed by a game drive in this, Kenya's
largest park, noted especially for its enormous elephant population.
Also visit Mzima Springs - an oasis where hippo and crocodile can
usually be seen. Dinner and overnight at a lodge in the park.
Day 3:
Tsavo - Nairobi
After breakfast return to Nairobi via the main highway from Mombasa
reaching the capital by lunchtime.

1: Nairobi - Amboseli

Magnificent
Mara
3 Days
Day 1:
Nairobi - Masai Mara
Leave from Nairobi office at 8:00am for Mara Sarova Camp, situated
in the famous Masai Mara. After a sumptuous lunch, you have a game
drive in the park; whose southern boundary adjoins Tanzania's famous
Serengeti National Park. Across this boundary the awesome wildebeest
migration takes place. Dinner and overnight at camp.

Day
2: Masai Mara
The day at large is spent in the park, exploring the plains for
its wildlife. One may have the opportunity to see the lion, elephant,
cheetah, rhino, leopard and buffalo to name but a few. All meals
and overnight at the Sarova Mara, or similar which provides one
with luxuries in the wild.
Day
3: Masai Mara - Nairobi
Depart after a hearty breakfast, reaching Nairobi by lunch-time.

Lake
Nakuru - Naivasha - Masai Mara
4 Days
Day 1:
Nairobi - Nakuru - Naivasha
Shortly after leaving Nairobi the vast panorama of the Great Rift
Valley unfolds below you and there are splendid stopping places from
which to photograph this entrancing spectacle. Cross the valley floor
to reach Lake Nakuru National Park, world renowned for its spectacle
of millions of flamingo. The park is rich in other birdlife and there
are surprising number of animals in this small and beautiful reserve.
The night is spent at either a camp or lodge in Lake Nakuru Park or
Lake Naivasha.
Day
2: Naivasha - Masai Mara
There is a chance to view the beauty of Lake Naivasha, with its
varied birdlife, before driving across the plains to reach the
Masai Mara National Reserve in time for lunch. Afternoon game
viewing will doubtless offer the sight of the huge black-maned
lions for which the Mara is justly famous. Overnight at a camp
near the reserve.
Day
3: Masai Mara
The day is spent watching and photographing game in this the
finest of Kenya's game sanctuaries.
Day
4: Masai Mara - Nairobi
After breakfast return to Nairobi which is reached by lunch-time.

Tree
Hotel - Samburu and Mt. Kenya
4 Days
Day 1:
Nairobi - Tree Hotel
Drive through ranchland before reaching the foothills of Mt. Kenya
where much coffee is grown. Arrive at your base hotel in time for
lunch. Afterwards drive through the forest to reach your tree hotel
where the night is spent watching the never-ending pageant of wildlife
which visits the floodlit waterhole and saltlick below. Dinner and
overnight at a Tree Hotel.
Day 2:
Tree Hotel - Samburu
After breakfast continue northwards, skirting the massive Mt. Kenya,
to reach Samburu National Reserve for lunch. In the afternoon a game
drive affords the opportunity to see certain northern species of game
not seen south of the equator. These include the resplendent reticulated
giraffe, Grevy's zebra and the Somali ostrich. Overnight at a lodge
or camp in the Reserve.
Day 3:
Samburu - Mount Kenya Safari Club
A morning game drive in this wild but splendid reserve. Continue to
the luxurious Mount Kenya Safari Club whose immaculately manicured
gardens nestle on the forested slopes of the mountain. The afternoon
is free to enjoy the numerous optional facilities of the Club which
include horse-back riding, tennis, golf, bowls, swimming or just relaxing
in the comfort and beauty of your surroundings. Overnight at the club.
Day 4:
Mount Kenya - Nairobi
After another restful morning return to Nairobi via Nyeri where lunch
is taken at Outspan Hotel. Lord Baden-Powell, the founder of the Boy
Scout movement spent the last years of his life at the Outspan and
is buried in Nyeri cemetery. Reach Nairobi in the early evening.

Hotel - Samburu and Lake Nakuru & Naivasha
5 Days
Day 1:
Nairobi - Tree Hotel
Drive northwards through the farmlands of the Kikuyu people to reach
Mount Kenya and the small town of Nyeri in time for lunch. In the
early afternoon drive through the forest to your tree hotel where
the night is spent above the floodlit waterhole and saltlick. Frequent
visitors are elephant, rhino, buffalo and the giant foresthog. Overnight
at your tree hotel.
Day 2:
Tree Hotel - Samburu
After breakfast flank Mount Kenya and descend into the dry and rugged
semi-desert where Samburu National Reserve is situated. Harsh but
beautiful this reserve harbours many species of animals not found
in the more lush parks to the south. Afternoon game drive with dinner
and overnight at lodge or camp in the reserve.
Day 3:
Samburu National Reserve
The day is spent exploring this reserve. You will almost certainly
see the graceful reticulated giraffe, Grevy's zebra, elephant and
the oryx - perhaps the origin of the legend of the unicorn. Overnight
at your lodge or camp.

4: Samburu - Lake Nakuru - Lake Naivasha
After breakfast drive to Lake Nakuru stopping en-route for a brief
look at the magnificent Thomson's Falls where the waters of the
Ngare Naru cascade in a sheer drop of 73 meters. Lunch at Nakuru
before visiting the world famous bird sanctuary and National Park
where the sight of the million or more flamingo has been described
by Sir Peter Scott as, "the worlds's greatest bird spectacle".
There is also much game to be seen before spending the night at
a lodge or a camp in the park before driving to spend the night
at a hotel at Lake Naivasha. |

Day 5:
Lake Naivasha - Nairobi
After breakfast a relaxing look at the beautiful Lake Naivasha richly
endowed with birds ( there are over 460 species), before returning
to Nairobi which is reached by lunchtime.

Tree
Hotel - Mount Kenya - Masai Mara
6 Days
Day 1:
Nairobi - Tree Hotel
Leave in the morning to reach the small town of Nyeri for a sumptuous
lunch before leaving for the Tree Hotel of your choice - Treetops,
the Ark or Mountain Lodge - in the early afternoon. The night is spent
in your comfortable perch above the floodlit waterhole and saltlick
where, night-long, a procession of animals comes to drink.
Day 2:
Tree Hotel - Mount Kenya Safari Club
After breakfast a short drive brings you to the Mount Kenya Safari
Club whose membership includes a host of movie stars, politicians
and aristocrats. Here you can have a day of total relaxation in the
splendid landscaped surroundings. Activities available include golf,
tennis, horseback riding, and ofcourse swimming in the heated pool.
Overnight and all meals at the Club.
Day 3:
Mount Kenya - Lake Nakuru - Lake Naivasha
During the morning drive, cross the tip of the Aberdare Mountains
stopping briefly to admire the 73m plunge of the Thomson's Falls,
named after the Scottish explorer who first saw the falls in 1884.
Continue to Lake Nakuru National Park where the sight of a million
or more flamingo cannot be forgotten. Overnight at a lodge or camp
in the Park or continue to Lake Naivasha for overnight at a lakeside
hotel.

Day
4: Lake Naivasha - Masai Mara
There is time, after breakfast, to savour the beauty and tranquillity
of the lake before departing for Masai Mara which is reached by
lunch-time. An afternoon game drive during which it should be
possible to locate the huge black-maned lions for which the reserve
is famous. Dinner and overnight at a lodge in or near the reserve.
Day
5: Masai Mara
A full day of game viewing and exploration of this, Kenya's
finest reserve. More than 60 species of wildlife are found here
as well as a multitude of birds. All meals and overnight at
your lodge or camp.
Day
6: Masai Mara - Nairobi
After breakfast return via the Great Rift Valley to Nairobi
on time for lunch.

The
Great Circuit
6 Days
Day 1
Depart from our Nairobi office at 8.00am, in our 9-seater minibuses
with "pop-up roofs" for Sarova Shaba arriving at lunch time. Situated
in Shaba Game Reserve, Shaba is described as an "oasis in the desert".
The glories of nature are concentrated here along-side thatched roofed
cottages which are tastefully furnished with local stone and timber,
adding to the luxurious yet wild image. Shaba is an ornithological
paradise where over 100 different species of birds can be seen. There
is a viewing deck above the river, where one can spot the birds or
watch the crocodiles clamber onto the sandbank. The open air restaurant,
overlooking the river and swimming pool offers sumptuous meals. Dinner
and overnight at the lodge.
Day 2
After breakfast, leave for a game drive in Shaba Game Reserve. It
is set in the hostile severe bushland of the hot and arid fringes
of Kenya's vast northern region. Shaba Reserve hosts a variety of
wildlife such as buffaloes, elephants, cheetahs, lions and leopards.
The Somali ostrich, gerenuk, besia, oryx, Grevy's zebra and reticulated
giraffe are some of the rare animals found only in Shaba. All meals
and overnight at the lodge.
Day 3
Depart from Shaba after breakfast for Sarova Lion Hill Camp set on
a plateau in the Rift Valley overlooking one of the world's greatest
ornithological spectacles, Lake Nakuru. The panoramic view from the
lodge reveals a shimmering pink glow across the lake created by millions
of flamingoes, pelicans and Marabou storks. All meals and overnight
at the camp.
Day 4
Leave for Masai Mara Game Reserve after breakfast. The reserve is
famous for its spectacular annual wildebeest migrations from Serengeti
National Park, Tanzania. Arrival at Sarova Mara at lunch-time. Sarova
Mara camp is a luxury tented camp situated on a natural elevation
between two streams. The camp is an ideal base for safaris to this
"Lion and Elephant" country. All meals and overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 5
The day will be spent having game drives in the Mara plains - an adventure
in the richest game sanctuary in Kenya. All meals and overnight stay
at the lodge.
Day 6
Depart for Nairobi after breakfast, arrival by lunch-time.
