Wildlife in Kenya is not confined to the parks and reserves. However it is generally abundant in such areas. You can see 30 to 40 species of mammals and at least 150 bird species. Here is a list of 81 animals found in Kenya.


Kenya has over 1000 species of birds in a variety of habitats. Montane forests, tropical coast,deserts,open savannah grassland, low land forest, bush and scrubs, lakes and mud flats. Birds come from as far east as Bering Straits and far west as the northern tip of Norway.

Mombasa is Kenya's second largest town. It has a recorded history stretching back nearly 2000 and was mentioned in the Periplus of Erythraean Sea.
